6: Black Creek Pioneer Village

Black Creek Pioneer Village was one of Canada’s first living history museums.  Visiting the village is like stepping back nearly two centuries when refugees from the American Revolution moved north in search of a new life.  The Parsons Site, Black Creek Pioneer Village, and the high rises of Jane/Finch and York University reveal the many different ways that a sense of place has been build along the Black Creek over the past 500 years.

From Black Creek Pioneer Village continue to follow Shoreham to the first bridge.  Turn left and cross the bridge and walk south until you cross the second bridge.  Once over the second bridge turn right and walk west until you reach Driftwood Community Centre.

If you don’t want to go to Driftwood Community Centre, look for the road heading into the ravine between Shoreham and the village.  This is the path that follows the Black Creek and it will take you back the Finch Avenue (York Woods Public Library).
